OMG! I cannot believe we did it!!! Banner #17 is going to be hanging in the Garden!!!
I watched that game last night with this gut feeling it was going to happen. If you refer back to my earlier blog about Game 1, I predicted the Celtics would win it in 6! If only I put some loot on that….oh well!
I woke my 12 year old son Tyler up last night at 11:40 to watch the final minutes. He is a huge Celtics fan and I wanted him to experience on LIVE TV the Celtics winning the Championship. He gladly woke up and chilled in my room watching the game. I think he thought he was dreaming when he saw the score…after all, being up on the Lakers by like 40 points is really amazing.
We watched the Celtics school the Lakers and run circles around them for the last few minutes and then the celebration kicked in. It was so awesome to see all the Celtics greats in the crowd and the smile on the players face knowing what they have accomplished. You kind of had to think this was going to happen when KG and Ray Allen came on board, but to actually see it happen was so cool.
We have been spoiled by the Red Sox and Patriots and after last season, who would’ve thought we would be watching this 1 year later. Now, all we need is for the Bruins to kick it up a notch and we will truly be the best sports town EVER! Think about it….the Patriots, the Red Sox, BC Football & Hockey, The Revolution, all of the other great college teams we are lucky to have….these are teams that over the past few years have either won the big game, been in the big game or have been nationally ranked as a top team. It is really amazing.
I am just in awe of this great city. As much as the price of gas stinks, you cannot be mad today. We are the Champions! And best of all, this team is pretty much all coming back next year. Add that to what the Sox are doing now, and Football right around the corner and it looks like we are in for a very long, entertaining ride.
Thank you Celtics ownership, Management and the Players for making this happen. My, have we come a very long way!
Now we must prepare for the Parade Thursday. I plan on being there….after all, they can’t expect me to “work” on a parade day, right?
Now we can chant…..WE BEAT LA!!
AWESOME!!!! GO CELTICS!!!
