So Thursday night on my way home from here, I was in a car accident. I was heading to this swell little gathering for one of my old students who has now left for the Marines, when in the fast paced traffic of Rt. 2 in rush hour, this guy in a huge flatbed type truck smashed into me! GRRRRRR!
I am still amazed at how this guy hit me. It was like 10 mph traffic and I am in my lane and then I hear a truck coming at me and it just didn’t stop. Before I knew it, the guy hit me from behind and then continued to roll along up to my driver side door! I really think he had some road rage or something. There is no possible reason why this would’ve happened.
When he got out of his truck, he had this look of “Hmmm maybe I messed up here” and tried talking to me. We decided to pull about a few feet and work this out at the State Police station in Concord. He was on the phone with his boss and was like “I pinned the guys door closed…I just didn’t see him. I got him with my back tire”. Now, all of that was incorrect except that he pinned my dooe shut. 1st, how could you not see me?? It was 10 mph traffic! Also I was ahead of you! And it was your front tire that got the back bumper of my car and then your big huge wheel ran up the side of my car pushing in on my door as if you were trying to run me off the road!
Thankfully, I had my handy dandy camera in the car (as I was going to take pictures at the party) and I snapped a few of my car and his FRONT tire so I could prove that was how it happened. He was trying to tell his boss I cut out of the merge lane and was on another cars tail and that is why he didn’t see me. How is that supposed to happen when it is 10 mph out there, this happened well after the merge AND your front tire hit the back of my car?!?!
Anyway, my car is messed up. I couldn’t even open my door to get out. I am in no shape or condition to pull a Luke Duke and go out the window so I had to crawl over and get out. Not a happy camper! Thankfully, Joe @ Harbor Auto Body was able to give me a quick fix and get my door open so I can avoid paying $45/day for a nice little Kia car rental.
So now I am sitting here filling out a TON of paperwork so I can get this wrapped up and get my car fixed. The funny thing was that I just got it back from a brake job and FULL DETAIL the night before! Now it really looks cool with those grinded metal marks around my door! Here are some pics for your enjoyment. And I have to say, it looks much worse in person.

Oh well. At least it gives me a reason to write something. If my mis-fortune helps you get through the day and waste some time at work, then I guess I am doing my job. Anyway…let’s hope that the good people at Commerce Insurance take care of this qucik. I think when you are in an accident and are the victim like I am, you should get to pick the other person’s punishment. I would love to take his license away from him and make him walk to work everyday witht that big wheel of his attached to his back. And then, I would make him get me Popeye’s chicken everyday and wash my laundry. And if I was nice, I may even let him come to work with me and go to meetings for me. That would be awesome!
But instead, he will just have to pay a few hundred extra dollars a year in insurance and will be looking out for his next person to intentionally hit in 10 mph traffic because his drive thru order was wrong and he was aggitated.
so sorry about your misfortune

Ouch! That is the worst, and your car is RED! How could he have missed it?! You seem to have bad luck with traffic.
