I was enjoying a nice night in on Saturday. I had my Mac going and was surfing the web as well as the Red Sox / Yankee’s on and was watching a ton of TV shows that I had either missed over the past few months or had never seen. I had some Pizza from my favorite spot (C&S Pizza in Pepperell) and some cold diet coke. It was the making of a super night in.
And then my cable went out.
And it did not go back on.
I did not realize how much I was depending on my cable tv and internet to keep me occupied unitl I did not have it. I went to the phone line and made the call to the cable company. I was hoping that they would say they could press 1 button and my life would go back to normal, but that did not happen. I was informed that I was the only person who had made a call and they would have to send someone out on Monday. UGH…that means I was going to be so bored all weekend!
I called my mother who lives close by, and she was enjoying her tv just fine. She even called me back later to let me know she was going to bed and her boxing match on tv came out just fine. Nothing like your mother rubbing it in that she had tv and I did not. This is the same lady who did not even have a digital box until like 6 months ago and her main tv is one that I gave her! Her idea of a night in is the Lifetime movie marathon. Now, she is enjoying boxing! And I have nothing!!
The problem really was that I had nothing to do. I had no TV, no internet, nothing! Well, I guess I could have read a book or had a conversation with my family, but that was not the same as having 300 channels to watch and the world wide web to explore. I really felt like this had the makings of a horrible night. And, no, I do not mean because I was around my family…do not get it wrong! I just wanted to watch some funny tv!
Thankfully enough about 1 hour later, there it was. TV! It was back! My internet was back! I had my Saturday night back!
I will admit it is sad that we are in a time where tv and internet play such a huge role in our lives. My kids go nuts if they can’t watch Hannah Montana or MTV. If my 13 year old can’t go on Myspace or search for new skate boards, he is in a bad mood. If my 7 year old can’t play webkins, it is all my fault and I am a bad guy!
When I was their age, I don’t remember what I did when the “rabbit ears” broke. I can’t even imagine how bored I must have been and didn’t realize it. What did we do with our time??
Oh well, I am just glad my cable went back on and life went back to normal. I hope it never happens again!
What is a guy to do without his cable?? haha

Me and my boyfriend have moved 3 times in the last year. We have not had cable since February! Im about to go crazy. You can only watch so many dvds before you get bored
Glad your cable came back on!

The Red Sox lost that game. You didn’t miss much at all.

When I moved to Boston 2 years ago, I had to wait 3 weeks to get cable! THAT was a long time!! A few hours is nothing!! I could never do it again, though…

Poor Baby! How did you ever survive!! I got rid of my cable 4 months ago and it isn’t so bad. I got a cat and read books. When I want to watch tv, I rent a movie. Simple life…it isn’t so bad!
