I received a call this morning that The Lowell Sun had posted a small bit about the interview I did last week with Scott Grimes of ER.  I went to their page at www.lowellsun.com and sure enough, there it is listed under “Breaking News”.  How impressive is that?  My silly little interview has made some breaking news in the Merrimack Valley!  I can’t wait for my boss to see this.  I think it will make me look like I am a hard worker and maybe get me a raise!

I take great pride knowing that my silly little banter with Dr. Morris ranks higher than the $820 kabillion dollar bailout story and this little VP debate tonight!  There is nothing more gratifying to me than knowing that my journalistic talents have brought me to the top of the daily news today!  I thank the Lowell Sun for realizing that I ask the cutting questions that no other journalist dares to ask.  I assume they will be calling me anytime now to be the moderator for the next mayoral debate in Lowell, which pending other speaking engagements I may have (which as of now, I have none), I will gladly accept.

I also wanted to share with you some inner workings here at MIKE-FM.  I told you a few blogs back that I have an important role here as the Assistant (to the) Deputy Fire Warden.  What that means is that during a fire, I am responsible to help direct people down my assigned stair well and out to safety.  It is a tough job and one that I take great pride in as I have a lot of lives to assist and save.  Well, yesterday my daughter was home sick and I stayed with her.  She is only 6 and does not have her license yet or a car, so I have to take her to the Doctor and take care of her all day.  I was happy to do so as that allowed me to get caught up on Hannah Montana and what is new with the Jonas Brothers.  But back to my story…

It turns out that there was a fire alarm yesterday and I was not at my station to direct people down the stairs.  I can only assume that total chaos erupted due to my absence.  Thankfully it was a test and I am sure everyone made it to “safety”.  The pressure that goes along with this job is immense and I will have to tell my daughter she can only get sick on the weekends as Daddy is sort of a fire fighter and needs to keep people safe.  I now know what other fire fighters feel like when they are home sick and the big call comes in!  I want to apologize to every employee here at Entercom for not being here for the false alarm to ensure they safely got down the stairwell ok.  It will never happen again!

Tomorrow I am talking to longtime pal Jamie Kennedy who will be on the “Ghost Whisperer” this season as well as Kim Zolciak from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”.  This could be breaking news, so keep an eye out on www.lowellsun.com as I will now have to mention them in every interview I do so I can see my name in print (even though they forgot it today…I’m sure it was a slight oversight)!

Oh, and 1 more thing.  Scott Grimes, if you read this, now everyone has heard the promise that you would send me something and we would record an album together after having Chinese food!  Call me as I am getting hungry!  Imagine the “breaking news” that would be if we were eating at Lo Kai and then singing together??  The AP would pick it up I’m sure!

  1. Are you like that guy Dwight from the office? What is an assistant to the deputy fire warden? Do you get paid for that?

I checked out the story on the lowell paper. That is funny that you are top news! The interview was really funny. Did he ever send you your gift certificate? I like this page.

  2. I saw that on the Lowell Sun and thought the same thing as you! Breaking news? Wow, you must have impressed them! I think you would be good hosting a debate…at least it would be funny! They are all so boring.

Hope your daughter is feeling better and you don’t get sick!

  3. That cracks me up! I think your interviews are great because you get them to talk about the most random things and they laugh. I wish these were on in the morning, it would make my drive to work better! I like the music you all play, but some funny interviews would help.

And why did they pick you for the fire job? You are to crazy to be trusted with public safety! I picture you as the type to be pushing people out of the way to make sure you were out safe 1st!

Good luck with creating more breaking news!
